As we have completed the sale of our Fiber and Cable infrastructure to Spectrum, we are back to the basics – Wireless. Washington Broadband has operated our wireless network since 2001, preceded by Dial-up since 1994. Our wireless network consists of 35 towers that serves from Tampico to deep East Valley, from Wenas to Zillah, and most places in between.
We continue to expand our network providing ever faster speeds, now averaging 50mbps, with some areas served by 100mbps. Despite what the government says, the average advanced users still uses little more than 40mbps, with the average users consuming 10-20mbps speeds. We have thousands of local customers with a technical support division second to none for bilingual language help.
Our companion company Washington Telco, LLC provides Voice over IP phone service. Our phone pricing can’t be beat especially for commercial service. All of the features the others charge is included in our low price. Customers reported going from bills over $1000 a month dropping to under $50/month. Our system runs in the cloud so it can be used throughout the country, and has redundant backup preventing outages.
Our company policy to not raise prices has maintained for our entire time in business. Despite continuing increases in Government fees and costs we have not raised prices in decades. A person paying $59 in 2001 is paying the same today. No other company can claim that.
Will there be changes in our near future, yes. Owner Forbes Mercy has been in the internet business for 32 years now, in addition to 17 years in the Fire Service, and two other professions for a total of 54 years of working. We are actively on the market, but holding off multiple offers in favor for someone who will promise to keep the service local based, and the respect we have shown our customers for our entire time of existence. No one likes change but retirement happens at some point.
