Connecting the Yakima Valley Since 1994

Washington Broadband has been a locally owned Internet Service Provider since 2001. As an offshoot of the original dial-up company, Northwest Info Net, we have been serving the Yakima Valley since 1994. Our experience developing high-quality networks has enabled us to build one of the best wireless networks in the area, with a strong emphasis on rural communities where customers once had few, if any, options beyond dial-up service.
To improve speeds and reduce latency, we have rebuilt our network from end to end four times, serving communities from Zillah to Naches. In 2001, our $39 monthly plan provided 128K speeds. Today, that same price delivers significantly faster service with lower latency, quicker page loads, and more consistent performance. With more than 20 towers surrounding Yakima, if you can see one of our towers, you are well on your way to high-speed internet.
Our Founder

Built by a Local to Serve the Yakima Valley

Forbes Mercy began his journey in internet service after a 17-year career in the fire service.

Invited by the National Science Foundation to help bring a new public network known as the internet to the local community, he launched one of the Yakima Valley’s earliest dial-up providers in 1994.

What started as a pioneering effort to connect neighbors soon grew into a 35-tower wireless network covering hundreds of square miles throughout upper Yakima County.

That vision continued to expand with the acquisition of a cable company that was transformed into a fiber optic network capable of delivering gigabit internet speeds.

As a lifelong resident of the Yakima Valley for more than 60 years, Forbes has remained committed to providing reliable, locally owned, bilingual internet service backed by a loyal long-term staff. His mission has always been to ensure that families and businesses in both urban and rural areas have access to dependable, high-quality internet from people who live and work in the same community they serve.
